Six Sentence Prompt: GRAIN

A single grain of sand, amidst
billions  upon the shore, just one of many lying there ….upon the ocean’s floor. 

When compared to all the rest, even if you try your best, nothing that you do ….may ever get you through. 

Knocking on the door with no one being home, doesn’t change a thing …. you remain all on your own. 

One star up in the sky…. still glows all by itself,
though it would be nice …. if the moon and sun would help.

But, don’t wait for the accolades…. don’t hesitate or pause. 

Do it for yourself, not just for the applause.

BELLY UP

Belly up!
The end is here
What you believed
Now crystal clear. 

Nothing that
You gained or lost
Ever came
Without a cost.

Fame and fortune
A fool’s gold
Can be exchanged
For one’s mere soul.

Satan beckoned
The lure , the lust
So much to lose
The love, the trust. 

Hard to resist
You wanted more
But always knew 
What was in store. 

You held your own
You did  believe
You tried your best
In time of need.

Trinkets gathered
Now left behind
All that remains
Tarnished in time. 

Though you tried 
You couldn’t win
Would not conspire 
Give in to sin. 

You watched in wonder
Shook your head
Before you knew it
You were dead.

Belly up 
They found you there
They passed you by
They didn’t care.

But welcome home
Into the fold
As you were promised 
You were told. 

Passing thru 
The pearly gates
Rewarded for 
Your strength and faith.

VISION

You either have it or not 
It resides within your soul
You feel it inside and out
Whether you are young or old.

You aspire to see the light 
It’s a force that lies within
You can’t rest till it is done
See it thru .… right to the end. 

It wakes you in the morning
An idea comes in your head
You jump up, so excited 
No way you’ll stay in bed. 

You can feel the surge, the power
Ideas swirling all about
Your mind is filled with hopes and dreams
No room for fear or doubt.

In the distance is the finish line
You can see it, feel it too
It won’t  be long , you’ve got this
It’s calling out to you. 

The thrill, the high, the ecstasy
Nothing can compare
Some say you love the risk.…the score
Some say you like the dare. 

It’s vision, something you can see
Often beyond the moon and stars
It beckons and propels you
It makes you who you are.

FOREWARNED

Take him seriously and literally 
For he means just what he says 
These are dark times, these are sad times
He has plans to get his way.

They’ll be assassinations
Criminals will be set free
He’ll disband our laws, our government 
He’ll destroy democracy.

He is threatening more violence
He’s a scheming, evil fraud.
Start considering your options
You might need to move abroad. 

They’ll be camps to control the masses
Anyone he deems a threat
If he gets back into office
They’ll be serious regrets.

His supporters follow blindly
He’s impervious to shame
He’s a narcissist, a maniac 
The master of this game. 

He knows how to play the system 
He never takes the blame
Surrounded by fools and  sycophants 
That thrive on lust and fame.

A failed, pathetic liar
Using other’s  moving parts
To get just what he wants to
He’s shown you from the start. 

He has to be defeated
Even then he’s threatening
He will inspire a violent end
They’ll be a reckoning.

IN GOD’S HANDS

Don’t worry …. we know you got this
Just have faith, that’s all you need
He is there to guide you
He knows that you believe.

It’s frightening and confusing
No reason to feel ashamed
You’re in God’s hands, our Savior
When you’re scared …. call out his name. 

The Angels there beside you
They’ve come to protect you, too
You’re not alone, don’t worry
They know just what to do. 

Guardians, protectors 
They’ve been sent from up above
You’re in God’s hands , no worries
You are blanketed with love. 

Our prayers to Mother Mary
The words straight from our hearts
From each and everyone one of us
Though we are far apart. 

Know that we send our heartfelt love
Along with healing energy
Lots of hugs  to hold you tight
From your friends and family.

THE REMEDY

I have this pain in my chest
Afraid it’s getting worse
Perhaps I need a doctor
Maybe I need  a nurse.

It’s not getting any better 
Please tell me what to do
Do I need an operation?
What am I supposed to do?

Lost control the day I met you
Didn’t know that I’d get hurt
Should’a known right from the very start
This was never going to work.

Didn’t stop to think it over 
I went down that rabbit hole
I followed you to hell and back
Gave up my heart and soul. 

Now I’m walking round in circles 
Since the day that you moved on
Yes, I know …. I need to face it
What we had was simply wrong. 

Once I find the right concoction
Once I find the remedy
Won’t be so hard to say, Good Bye
To painful memories.

Level up, you’ve been slumming. 

Can’t you see, better days are coming?

Get out of bed, you need a goal.

Examine your heart, nurture your soul.

THOUGHTS OF YOU

The leaves rustling in the wind
I can feel the soft cool breeze
Remembering your smiling face
As I stand beneath the trees.

The faint scent of your perfume
The bright sunlight glistening 
I strain to hear you speak to me
Now a mere soft whispering.

Angels from the sky above
Accompanying you in flight
As the  butterflies and sparrows
Appear at dawn’s new light.

The animals in the barnyard
The dogs, the cats and lambs
Remembering my walks with you
So  glorious …. so grand.

Sharing family memories
Childhood days of old
Hanging on to every word
Every story I was told. 

I cherish times …. so sacred
Beneath this sky of blue
Reminded of those gentle days
I treasure my thoughts of you.

OLD AGE SUCKS

Spider veins and wrinkles
On going aches and pains 
Everything is changing
Nothing stays the same. 

I came in here for something
I walked right through that door
What was it that I wanted?
What did I come here for? 

The name of that new movie
With the girl …. you know her name
The one who once was married
To the guy from Hunger Games.

Can’t remember, did I take that pill?
Did I take one or maybe two?
What’s going to happen  if I did?
Oh no, what should I do?

Should I call the doctor?
Or maybe 911?
Should I drink more water 
Yikes, the rumblings begun. 

Always  in the bathroom
If not one, then number two
At least,  I’m not in diapers yet
But that could happen, too!

My bladder and my kidneys 
Are not so kind to me
I constantly feel pressure
Feels like I have to pee.

They say I’m hard of hearing
I try to nod a lot
Guess repeating  is annoying
They get pissed, when I say… What?

What about this back pain?
It never goes away
I’m dealing with Sciatica 
Almost every single day. 

My gait , that of a turtle
My pace , like an old snail
My legs and joints are giving out
Old age ….. a living hell!

ABOVE THE LAW

You can’t give him immunity 
My God that’s pure insanity
Can’t close your eyes, hope for the best
Because he threatens more unrest. 

Devoid of honor, ethics or morals
He loves to fight, encourages quarrels
Would put to death any opponents
Assassinations? Yes, a proponent. 

Doesn’t care ..…. Ignores the facts
Prepares to fight, he will attack
Distorted thinking, false sense of self
He is unstable, Yes…. he needs help.

The team of nine, five so afraid
Oh what a mess the Donald’s made
Everyone now fears his wrath 
Don’t want to cross his campaign path.

Afraid of what he’ll think of you? 
Afraid of what he just might do?
Just one man, so weak , so small
Filled with anger, vengeance and gall.

He lies, he cheats, he sets the stage 
He threatens vengeance thru his rage
Don’t give in, it’s a mistake
He is evil, vile and fake.

Dear Lord, he’s  not above the law
All nine of you should make the call
Stop the madness, set things straight
He’ll never make this country great!
